What happened on 1st Feb at ForgetTheGym?

We like to consider 1st February, Brigids Day, the real kickoff of our members new year at ForgetTheGym. We ease into January and the move into a full focussed February with great plans for the 3 months that lead us rigth up to 1st May. Yep, its that close to May so the start of Feb is time to make a plan and get inspired for spring.

What better way to make that happen than get together in person. Our fabulous venue for our big day out this 1st Feb 2025 was the Royal Hospital Kilmanham, and just like last year, it was an incredible day to reset - the perfect way to start our 2025 in style.

Here's what we got up to 

From the moment we arrived you could hear the chatter from the next room. Old and new friends catching up and very little chat about running at all. We had a quick introduction and headed out into the courtyard for Yoga with Linda before our walk. Linda brought us through her outdoor walk warm up, focusing on each body part starting at our feet. Members, this 7 minute warmup is perfect before your walk and run and Linda has a full recording you can play back here before your next/walk or run. 

After our warmup we headed across the road from the main building into the Irish National War Memorial Park. Down as far as the river and attempting to take in all the new shoots of flowers coming up now that spring starting to arrive. No running today, just walk, chats and from what we hear lots of planning and sharing of ideas of spring adventures, parkruns and good coffee spots! 

Back to take in the formal gardens of The Royal Hospital Kilmainham and little more yoga and breathwork with Linda. Linda was on hand to answer anyones questions regarding their own practise and how they can improve it. It was so great for so many of you who follow Linda's classes on the app all the time to be able to get 1-2-1 guidance and help.

Then it was time to head back indoors for our wonderful lunch. 3 Courses of vegetarian delights all catered for by the wonderful Camerino Bakery located in the grounds of the Museum of Modern art. Full and content it was then time to settle down into planning our future...

Time to dream about the future

After lunch we settled in for a bit of a chat about the feedback we have received from our members and what they are looking for in the next 12 months of the membership. Lots of topics covered and lots of new plans made for 2025. Great to see so many are on the same page and really want this year to be the one they make more time for themselves to feel strong and able for all that comes their way. Thrilled to say we were humbled with all the lovely feedback and transformation stories about how being a member has made such a difference and given so many of you women a foucs, a community and great optimism for a healthy future full of energy and fun!

We also had our 'Merch stand' Old and new stock available as well as our swap shop where members brought items of running gear they no longer use and would love to see go to a new home. Anything not taken Mary brought home and was arranging for it to be brought to Sanctuary runners. Also time to get those personal tips on check in on our execrise form and any running tips and tricks. 

Fancy a cuppa ?

Before everyone went home we gave out our fabulous new branded coffee cups. A lovely glass coffee cup for post run cuppas on the go from a wonderful Irish company Monkey Cups. If you were not in attendance and would like to purchase one just drop Aoife an email or DM on your members app and we can organise for you to collect one at our next meet up or in class. 

Here's to the spring now and plenty days out to use our new cups in the fresh air!

For now, full focus on our spring and making it the best one yet!
